Learn Life-Saving Techniques
During any cardiac emergency, time is critical. The faster care can be started the better, and the time before an ambulance gets there can be critical.
Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest. It can save lives, especially when coupled with AEDs, which are available in an increasing number of public places.
What You Will Learn
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
You will learn the basics of CPR, including the rate of compressions you should do and the recommended depth of each compression. You will also learn where on the victim's body to perform the compressions and receive practical training in performing CPR.
Automated External Defibrillator Usage
There is a lot to operating an automated external defibrillator, or AED, than the shout of "clear" that has become famous thanks to medical shows on television. You will learn how to properly connect the AED, where to place the pads and the steps that the device will go through before delivering a shock. Delayed defibrillation can significantly reduce the chances of survival when needed during a cardiac event so knowing how to properly use the device can, literally, be a lifesaver.
